Installing the ICA Client used to be tough back when the Fedora Project first dropped OpenMotif from FC6 due to licensing issues, but it's gotten progressively easier. It's an absolute snap with Fedora 12. Note that I've only tested this on an i386 box. 64-bit users may have to install some 32-bit libraries for compatibility, since Citrix ships the ICA Client in a 32-bit version only. Here's what to do, step-by-step: (please note use of a root console)
1) Set up yum to use the RPM Fusion repositories. [root@somebox ~]# rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm [root@somebox ~]# rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm 2) Ensure your system is up-to-date. [root@somebox ~]# yum update 3) Install OpenMotif. Don't worry about it being version 2.3.2 instead of 2.3.1, it just works... [root@somebox ~]# yum install openmotif 4) Due to conflicts, remove the cjkuni-uming-fonts package. [root@somebox ~]# yum remove package cjkuni-uming-fonts 5) Download and install the Citrix ICA Client rpm from: http://www.citrix.com/English/SS/downloads/details.asp?downloadID=3323&productID=-1#top 6) Change the root console to your download directory. [root@somebox ~]# cd /home/user/Download 7) Install the downloaded ICA Client rpm using yum. [root@somebox user]# yum --nogpgcheck localinstall ICAClient-11.0-1.i386.rpm 8) To ensure the Citrix Receiver for Linux plugin is loaded, restart Firefox then look in about:plugins: about:plugins 9) Test your work, you should be able to run the ICA Client. 10) Congrats! You're done. Time for a beer. |
